Gothic singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe unveiled her heaviest and most dynamic album yet with a little help from Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen, Mustard Gas and Roses’ Bryan Tulao and SUMAC’s Aaron Turner. But it’s Wolfe’s soaring, ghostly vocals that hold it all together, and under her guidance, the beautifully overcast Hiss Spun luxuriates in serpentine melodies, moaning doom riffs and high atmospheric darkness.
